ORDERING INFORMATION
Nailess Sawtooth Hangers are attached to the back side of a picture frame, usually placing just one at the center of the top rail, with the serrated "teeth" of the hanger facing downward. The frame is then hung on an ordinary nail in the wall by positioning the sawtooth hanger teeth over the protruding shank of the nail. Made of tempered steel, each nailess sawtooth has two pronged "legs" that enable it to be attached to a wood picture frame without screws or nails. The hardened finish allows the hanger to be hammered into position without deforming. Nailess Sawtooth Hangers install very quickly--an important advantage if you have a lot of frames to hang. Except for very hard woods like oak or ash, pilot holes are usually not necessary. The sawtooth hangers on this page are for wood frames only. For metal frames, use this hanger instead. For conventional nail-on or screw-on type wood frame sawtooth hangers, go to this page. *PLEASE NOTE: For both nailess sawtooth hangers HWR-3919 and HWR-3920 we are transitioning from the black oxide finish shown here to a standard zinc-plated (silver color) finish. All other specs will remain the same. If finish color is an issue for your application please call us before ordering and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Please keep in mind that nailess sawtooth hangers are intended for use on small or lightweight picture frames only. The weak link in the sawtooth system is usually not the sawtooth hanger itself, but rather the nail driven into the wall. Ordinary nails can come loose or tear out, especially in drywall, so make sure the nail you place in the wall is tight before you hang a sawtooth frame on it. Wood paneling and similar hardwall surfaces are less of a problem as they hold nails better than drywall.
Additional Notes Wall nails are not provided with sawtooth hanger orders. Do not use sawtooth hangers on large or heavy pictures. The Wall Buddies Hanger is a good alternative for larger pictures. Frames equipped with sawtooth hangers should not be hung on picture hooks. Even a small picture hook is too wide to engage sawtooth hanger teeth properly and the picture hook will be visible above the frame when the picture is hung. The sawtooth hangers on this page are for wood frames only. For metal frames, use our notched hanger, available here. For a very large heavy-duty sawtooth hanger, go to this page.
