ORDERING INFORMATION
Sawtooth hangers are installed on the back side of a picture frame, in most cases placing just one at the center of the top rail, with the serrated "teeth" of the hanger facing downward. The frame is then hung on a nail that has been hammered into the wall, leaving about 1/4" of the nail sticking out. The sawtooth hanger drops down onto the protruding shank of the nail. Please Note: Wall nails are NOT provided with sawtooth hangers. Sawtooth hangers come in three types: nailed-on, screwed-on and nailess. Screwed-on sawtooth hangers are the most secure, but they take a bit longer to install on the frame. Nailed-on sawtooth hangers require some dexterity to install as the nails are quite small, but they eliminate the need for pre-drilling screw holes in the frame. The newer nailess type sawtooth hangers (available here) install very quickly--an important advantage if you have a lot of frames to hang. The sawtooth hangers on this page are for wood frames only. For metal frames, use this hanger instead. Do not use any of the sawtooth hangers on this page with large or heavy frames. For a heavy-duty sawtooth hanger, go to this page.
All four sawtooth hangers on this page are made of .030" thick nickel-plated steel. HWR-2406 and HWR-3018 sawtooth hangers are supplied with 3/8" x 18 gauge nails to attach them to the frame. HWR-2800 and HWR-2900 hangers are supplied with #6 x 3/8" screws to attach them to the frame.
Additional Notes The nails or screws needed to attach sawtooth hangers to wood frames are included in each package, but wall nails are not provided. Do not use sawtooth hangers on large or heavy pictures. Wall Buddies Hangers are a good sawtooth alternative for larger pictures. Make sure the nail you place in the wall is not loose or wobbly before you hang a sawtooth frame on it, especially if you have drywall (sheetrock) walls. Frames equipped with sawtooth hangers should not be hung on picture hooks. Even a small picture hook is too wide to engage sawtooth hanger teeth properly and the hook will be visible above the frame when the picture is hung. The sawtooth hangers on this page cannot be used on metal frames--use our metal frame notched hanger instead, available here.
