Heavy Duty Picture Hangers
Heavy-duty hangers, also called "strap hangers," "mirror hangers," "ring hangers" or "D-ring hangers" can be used with or without picture wire and are intended for hanging larger, heavier wood frames.
When used with picture wire, strap and D-ring hangers should be positioned on the back of the frame at an angle that will roughly match the angle of the picture wire when the picture is hung. Make certain that the Picture Wire and Picture Hooks you select are strong enough to support the weight of the frame.
When used without wire, strap and D-ring hangers should be aligned vertically at the upper corners on the back of the frame. The picture is then are hung directly on substantial picture hooks or screws anchored into the wall.
Super Steel hangers, the third heavy-duty hanger option we offer, are for use with picture wire only. The wire hole on this hanger is not large enough to permit direct hanging.
